SleepCart is a shopping cart designed for homeless people. It works as a regular shopping cart but can also transform into a recliner to allow them to rest. Although if they really want to target the homeless they should've made this thing out of food. Or, I dunno, money.

A few more shots of the SleepCart after the jump.

They have to dump all their stuff out in order to sleep in it?

thats a pretty sweet idea... just depends on the cost now..

Are they giving these away free or something, because if not this is probably the dumbest idea ever.

Who the hell sleeps in a half-reclined position? The transit bench in front of my apartment looks more comfortable than this thing.

Methinks margins will be fairly slim given the market segment's ability to pay.

Got any change..... Change?

Great. Now all of my grocery items will smell like homeless guy.

This looks comfortable... COMFORTABLE!

This would make sense if it was part of an initiative to provide these things free of charge. It's not clear whether that's this website's intention...but that could be because I had to translate everything =P

Grocery stores to homeless: "Our carts are even more appealing to steal."

Nothing says 'marketing opportunity' like selling shit to the homeless. And is it just me, or do those pictures make it look like the things are made out of clay?

You idiot.
its 3D graphics.

clay.. *rolls eyes*

This is great!
Now my shopping cart races down the street with be exciting AND comfortable! Score. Anyone know where these'll be located. I gotta steal myself a few.

It's actually from a design contest at designboom.com. People donate to have these manufactured. Ignorants.

I would agree that this is a scale model made out of clay. If not, the modeler spent a great deal of time lofting and contouring imperfections into it in order to make it look like a scale model made out of clay.

huh? so all homeless people need is a more comfy shopping cart? again, if these are being passed out for free, why not pass out sleeping bags, chairs, mattresses, or other more needed items? this is just more hipster designers trying to appear like they "care". sheesh...

worst.
idea.
EVER.
