Jun 19 2007Sheila's Heels convertible stiletto
Sheila's Wheels, a spinoff division of UK insurance company eSure, has created a pair of convertible stilettos. The company markets insurance to women and found that British women regularly wear inappropriate footwear when driving, so they developed Sheila's Heels, which is a regular stiletto that folds down flat for driving. It even has a grip pattern on the sole for better pedal control. Although I can't imagine a single woman actually buying these. You might as well turn in your vagina and call it quits as a female.

Those shoes look like a deathtrap to me. Whatever mechanism they've employed to keep the heel from randomly collapsing is no match for my two left feet.

They had some shoes like this on the today show, but I must say this design is visually better in that it conceals the heel when it's retracted. The one I saw just looked stupid. In any event, the only practical use for high heels is for my wife to wear for a short time just before we do the humpty dance.

Any females that buy these and turn in their vagina, contact me. I only have two, and I am really trying hard to increase my collection.
4. Brownian - June 19, 2007 2:25 PM
Any duplicates, BrachiosaurusDad? If so, let me know and we'll arrange to trade.

I can't see it being any easier to unlock the heels and tuck them in the shoe than it is to simply take your shoes off. Anyone who buys these shoes is more of a moron than not a female. Oh wait that's the same thing. AHAHAHAHAHA!!

I don't know what people's problem is with these, I think they're brilliant. You can walk to where you're going in the flats and then flip them into stilettos. Brilliant. Then flip them back into flats for the walk home. I know so many girls who carry an extra pair of flats in their bag when they go out. Anyone who doesn't understand that has either never worn heels (and never had a girlfriend who did) or hasn't walked anywhere since getting their driver's license. In which case you're probably too fat to be able to wear heels anyway.

Well...The colors are vibrant and irratating....
8. stopthepresses - June 19, 2007 8:22 PM
It still won't help the women to drive better...
OOOO, sexist comment!! deal with THAT, internet!
9. Jubtastic1 - June 19, 2007 8:41 PM
It'll look right classy when you flip the heal out to reveal a load of dirt and gum stuck to it.

I knowa few women who would love a pair of these. Plus, you know, this might improve female driving. Now, all we need is a way to improve male driving.

#9 wins this topic
And want to improve mail driving? Neuter all the ones that get aggressive driving/speeding tickets so they don't feel the need to show off for girls in a vain attempt to "get laid"

In Oregon, it's illegal to drive without shoes. The More You Know!
13. mcollie - June 20, 2007 1:41 PM
#12: Which is why I always keep the shoes in close proximity of my feet should I need to quickly slip them on for the police officer.
14. Stephanie S. - June 20, 2007 2:29 PM
I'd buy these.
15. ajax - June 20, 2007 10:01 PM

Amazing shoes... all the fashion girls will loves these!
20. PSM - June 25, 2007 4:46 AM
The shoe could do very well my end of town, where most women carry sandals to wear when driving. If you have tried driving in heels before, you know what I mean.
21. Natasha - June 25, 2007 11:38 AM
These are really good for female dance instructors. While explaining the mans part, they could wear the heel down and the heel up for the womans part. I'd buy them, but if they were in a better colour combo.
22. StickyPubes - June 26, 2007 2:16 AM
These fuggin suck. Once women buy them, they'll wear them once. Then they'll find some other shitty looking shoes, boots, or sandals because they only have 19083079239486329486 pairs of shoes.......

I AM JUST AMAZED THAT SOOOOO MANY MEN HAVE COMMENTED AND THAT THEY SEEM TO BE CONCERNED..........THANKS GUYS FOR YOUR INPUT NOW CAN SOMEONE PLEASE STOP AND ASK FOR DIRECTIONS???
24. hiram - August 18, 2007 1:42 PM
#12, that's not true. It is legal to drive in Oregon barefoot, but that isn't to say the cops know that, and won't give you a ticket (try arguing laws with a cop who thinks he knows everything)

this is ridiculous as far as driving goes...unless your a trucker that has to pull the 18 wheel up for a hot date....but as far as bike riding...Where do i get a pair?!!!
i ride my bike out at night when we go to bars and what not and before i mastered peadaling in wedges i would bring a pair of heels in my bag but these would be perfect!!!! i want i want i want!
26. lalala - January 18, 2008 2:54 PM
IT'S A GREAT IDEAAAA! btw where can i buy this? is it out in the market?
27. Catlover - February 11, 2008 10:03 AM
The world is surely ending when someone comes up with such an abomination and "people" actually buy it. I say people because I'm not surprised the british came up with it...I mean, look at their "women"...yuck!
28. shoes_are_my_middlename! - March 8, 2008 12:29 PM
um i know a=they sound silly but they would be useful if you had to walk through a field.
29. Silvetooooo - January 16, 2009 11:33 PM
I'd DEFINATLY love a pair of these.
just...well it's a tad noticeable that the heel goes in when its out...
they need to be improved, but none the less; amazing idea!
30. Miss who owns over 200 pairs of shoes. - January 26, 2009 6:28 AM
I think these are awesome! I often need to walk around the city or go shopping at lunch time while I am in my work suits and heels. I am sick of ruining my heels by walking on tough uneven concrete, also sick of being weary around grates, escaltors etc. Not to mention the stumbling home barefoot after a big night out.
These shoes are so great, I can't wait to buy them!!
31. onwarin - February 12, 2009 12:26 AM
I WANT THEMMM.!!!!
32. Holly - February 19, 2009 3:18 PM
I would love to purchase this shoe, although I would hope it comes in other heel colors besides pink. There isn't much pink in my wardrobe; red would be nice.
As a college student of fashion design, I often half to walk a few miles or more per day. I prefer to wear dresses or long trousers on occasion, but heels are killer to wear for the walks to class. I would purchase something like this.
I have also been in minor collision while wearing stilettos, sad but true. Yeah, this would be a great shoe.
33. FoolishlySuccinct - April 23, 2009 4:25 AM
I wouldn't mind having a pair, but if you were to walk with them, then the "pink" heel will get damaged by streets/pavements... will be easily scratched (although... nail polish can repair anything)
I wonder when they are actually going to bring this out, and if they will mark it outside of the UK?
34. ashley - May 16, 2009 3:53 PM

Ohhh....I WANT EEETTT!!! Brilliant idea, they just need to be improved slightly...black and pink?? seriously??? ugh. :(
oh, and Catlover (number 27)? If you think all English people are ugly, i'd advise you to go get a scan for brain damage. Obviously something important is missing up there. Either that or you're blind. I'm british, hell, my whole FAMILY's british, and 2 of my female cousins are MODELS. where are they from? England. And no-one i know is ugly - none of my english friends are. And i know a lot of people as i move around a lot.
