Jun 1 2007Nathan Sawaya's LEGO Sculptures

Nathan Sawaya is an artist who creates pretty amazing sculptures out of LEGO bricks. And they're not just recreations of objects, like a car or a building, but actual creative sculptures. Although none of them compare to my LEGO masterpiece: a giant rectangle.
Check out a gallery of Nathan Sawaya's work here.

The sculptures of the human body are very Dantean. (ie: out of the Divine Comedy) In the Inferno, Dante visits the circle of the schismatics.. those souls who started wars, separated families and caused infighting within religion, countries and kinships. The yellow sculpture would illustrate Mahomet, with his guts split from chest to bowels, The sculpture of the gray man who raises his head by the hair like a lantern is surely Bertrand de Born. The red sculpture with his arm severed may be Mosca dei Lamberti. The exhibition is an amazing experience.
Many thanks! Robert Haas, Kansas City, Missouri
