I'm so impressed that people can kill animals with nothing but a gun.. its astonishing. i mean just the stratagies involved alone must have been intricate. not to mention loading the gun, pointing it, and pulling the trigger... where'd he learn that technique.

In looking at that picture alone, you can see that they are trying to take deceiving pictures. They have the boy posed behind the pig, with his arms crossed as if he is leaning on the pig with his elbows, but he's not. You can tell they were going for the look of it in the picture, when he is at least a few feet behind the beast.

Oh, and laughing out loud at #3's comment. That indeed is "SOME PIG".

Two words... Forced Perspective. I don't believe it with out another angle on the hog. I've been hunting for years, seen some really large beasts but i find it hard to believe that thing is really that big. If it were real there would have been legends told of this thing years ago. And the backing of "His father said..." doesn't make for a concrete witness.

If that kid was actually leaning on the pig he would be a lot more horizontal in order to stand, lean AROUND that massive girth and still manage to rest his elbows on the spine of that thing. And as you can tell from the awkward positioning of the elbows, he's clearly not leaning on that pig.

I concur with the comments on forced perspective. Note that the boar is 7-8 times as long as the part of the kid that's showing. If we call him an average 11-year-old and assume he's around 5 feet tall, then that would make the part of him showing about 2 feet. A few back-of-the-envelope calculations, and this photo makes the boar look to be about 14-16 feet long.

What kind of pistol did he reportedly use? It took a Desert Eagle to bring down the hog what killed my pappy.

Ok everybody needs to stop making these wild assumptions about how they can tell how big something is by looking at one grainy photograph on the intertubes. I won't take the time to read the comments, but if you people care to read the source's link it clearly says hogzilla is ANOTHER wild hog. This one is supposed to be bigger than hogzilla.

I am not saying the picture isn't deceiving, I don't know about that. But this one is not hogzilla, this is monsterpig.

If you go to the monsterpig site you can see in the pic where people are saying that he is "leaning with his elbows" on top of the pig. Go to the site and look at the larger pic. He is resting one of his elbows on his knee. He is probably on some kind of stand in a squatting/kneeling position.

After looking at the Pics on the web site i will again call bullshit on this one. All you have to do is look at the difference between the pictures of them standing "beside" the pig and the one of it being lifted up by the forklift. if that was 11 feet long and weighing in at over half a ton that thing would be so big you wouldn't be able to see the tractor let alone lift one with it.

Sorry to dwell on this, but I wrote this to my neighbor who somehow thinks it's real, so I figured I'd post it here as well...

On the website: www.monsterpig.com if you click the "Who Is JAMISON" link there's a much larger picture. If we believe it's true, the pistol is roughly above and in line with the spine of the pig. So I'd have to assume it's in the same plane, and therefor has the same scale in the photo. The pistol has an overall length of 14 inches, I'll call this 1 PU (Pistol Unit). From end to end the pig seems to be about 9.5 PU. Convert that back to inches that's about 133, or 11' 1". Stretch the pig's rear leg out would make the pig at least 13 feel long "hoof to snout". The top website claims the pig was 10' 7" from hoof to snout. One of these measurements is inaccurate, but the description purports both measurements to be true. Those people are liars.

The pig is most likely a farm pig that got loose a while ago and kept growing. The question to ask is if the pig is castrated or not. Feral pigs do not get that large in the wild, at least naturally, as there is no way for something that big to survive in the woods.

You can clearly see the boy has been added to the photo, he is not leaning on the pig itself and there is a marked difference in the photo quality around the boy.
The hog is most likely large but tops 500 maybe 600 lbs and 6 feet in length.
I have seen a very large hog exhibited at our local fair it was 1,000 lbs and was about 6 feet in length..however the hog was so grossly overfed to become that large it could not walk under it's own power any longer.
Hence the hog in photo could not have been running the woods.

All these people who have posted comments on this page are all idiots. Even the ones that sound smart are idiots. Even if the pig isn't a giant it is still big. Who cares if the kid is a fat 11-year old? The facts that matter: kid went out hunting, kid shot big pig. It doesn't matter how big, it was big.
Secondly, the pig was raised on a farm, the farmers couldn't use the pig for breeding or food so they sold it to a reserve for hunting. Applaud the kid for killing a bigger than average pig. One more time, IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW BIG IT WAS, IT WAS STILL A BIG PIG.
Now for all of you people who say it was an evil thing to do, get over it. If animals deserve the same rights as people, people deserve to act as animals. Animals hunt each other all the time. There are confirmed reports of entire species of animals that are inherently aggressive. IF ANIMALS CAN BE TREATED AS PEOPLE, PEOPLE CAN ACT LIKE ANIMALS.
