May 23 2007Water balloon not exploding in high-speed

This is a high-speed video of a water balloon bouncing off the floor without popping. It's oddly hypnotic to watch. And by hypnotic I mean erotic. Chica bow wow chica bow wow. Check out the video after the jump.

Very cool video. Wonder how many takes it took to get it not to pop :x

pause at 0:24!
it looks like a penis.

They should drop my 450 pound next door neighbor on a concrete slab and film it. That would be better but not as "erotic"

looks like a fat dude i know when he jumps up and down

Shouldn't it be LOW speed?

i know what you mean, it turns me on ;-)

John, a high speed camera takes many more frames per second than a regular camera, hence when you play those frames at a regular frame rate, it appears slower, and you get more detailed motion.
I just blanked out for a minute, what did I type?

that was sweet as hell. they should do a high speed of someone getting punched in the face, ala fight night round 3

That looks like my black ex-girlfriend's ass during doggy style.

its fake you tools. look at how CGI the surface of the balloon is, and look at where the balloon is tied off, its not even moving until it hits the ground, dont you think itd be flapping a little bit from the wind resistance?
and a website called "lucidmovement" doesnt that sound like theyd be more apt to do cutting-edge CGI than high-speed video of water balloons?

Brain has proven himself a complete invalid. Regardless of whether it is CGI or not, his understanding of forces and the fact that something as arbitrary as a name is proof to him makes everybody laugh at him, quite condescendingly.
I am the best.

If you went to the website it actually says, High speed/slow motion videos and information in the title.

it ripples and jiggles quite effectively

I agree with brain. I imediatly thought it looked computer generated. it doesn't behave normally. trust the kid NAMED brain, and me on this one. It's not real.

I'm pretty sure he's just Brian.
Even if it is computer generated it's very neat, but it would represent a very strong baloon not regular party fare.

Thats how my spooge bounces off the floor after rubbing one off to good 'ol internet pron.

yes, it is a computer-generated animation. the physics are hyptonic because they were programmed to be, not unlike the visualizations on a media player. upon the first viewing, the image indeed mezmerizes to the point of disbelief. further viewing shows a lapse in physical time that cannot be explained unless the image were computer-generated.

Meh.
Popping > not popping.

I've done little experiments like this with high speed cameras in labs. It looks real enough to me, and very well done at that.
I think it is interesting how everyone here immediately jumped to the conclusion that it was CGI. It's pretty easy to do this experiment. Take a soft surface, drop the balloon from a height so that it strikes the surface with less force than neccesary to break it. Take a high-speed camera and there you go. It's complex wave motion and some interesting physical behavior, but there is no need for CGI to achieve this effect.

Haha
It looks like a penis at 24
I know #2 said that, but I had to say it too, because maybe I will get more credit for it.
