May 10 2007Smoking fingers
I can't think of a single reason why you'd want to make your fingers look like they're smoking, but here's how to do it anyway.

Who are the guys took time out of living to figure out how to do this, then decided to take more time to record it, then video edit it, and post it on the internet.
Who is this video intended for, is there an underground demographic of people who wish they had worthless superpowers and need to find out how to make it lok like they have them?

I was done when the video asked me to wipe the brown residue off with my fingers.

What if your fingers are already on fire?

if anyone cares for an explaination read on
the striking surface of matches is made of red phosphorous, one of the three of alleotropes(stable natural forms) of elemental phosphorus. while red phosphurous is not reactive with air, it could be converted into the more reactive white phosphorous form with heating. the guy in the video uses the cold running tap as a sublimation condenser to collect the white phosphorous(brown stuff on the tap)
this form of phosphorus is more reactive due to the highly strain bond angles of its P4 unit and will oxidize in air to form P4O6 and this process is what causes the smoke when he rubs his fingers
oh and i won't try to repeat the experiment white phosphorous is quit bad for you
google image search "phossy jaw" to find out why

after it says "wipe the residue off with your finger", if you look at the reflection in the tap the guy is doing something else with his hands, anyone know what? hmmm very sneaky.
