May 22 2007Deep Sea Creatures

The New York Times has a pretty nice (but short) slideshow featuring some deep sea creatures taken by French journalist Claire Nouvian for her film “The Deep: The Extraordinary Creatures of the Abyss.” The thing above is called the Dumbo Octopus, and it's probably the cutest thing living in the deep. Which isn't a hard title to get, considering everything else down there basically glows in the dark and has about a 1 billion fangs coming out of its mouth.

Unlucky, son.

It looks like a Picasso duck with a charming set of beef curtains.
Now, are we allowed to at least make fun of the fauna or PETA is going to go after my a$$ for this as well.
