May 11 2007 Han Solo in carbonite chocolate bar

han-solo-chocolate.jpg

Instructables has a tutorial on how to make your own Han Solo in carbonite chocolate bar. Basically you make a mold out of a Star Wars toy and fill it with chocolate. Slightly better than my idea, which was to kidnap Harrison Ford and throw him in a vat of chocolate.

May 11 2007 Dog playing Wii

This has to be fake, right? There's a better chance I'll learn to fly by flapping my arms than this being real.

May 11 2007 Guy carrying a ton of eggs

carrying-eggs.jpg

I can do that too. I can also carry twelve kittens in my mouth. Yeah, I'm pretty special.

May 11 2007 Miniature Jenga set

mini-jenga.jpg

This is a miniature Jenga set that you can use as a keychain or attach to your belt. The entire thing is smaller than the palm of your hand so they even provide a poking stick to play. It's only $4, making it the perfect way to feel like a giant. Well that, or bathing in radiation and hoping it doesn't kill you.

May 11 2007 Hi-Res Transformers pictures

hi-res-transformers.jpg

They look pretty cool, but why do they all look like break dancing insects? Check out all of the hi-res pictures here.

May 10 2007 Chinese create e-cigarette

e-cigarette.jpg

Golden Dragon Group Ltd's Ruyan has created an electronic battery-powered cigarette. The e-cigarette activates light and vapour, and even delivers nicotine to the lungs within 7 to 10 seconds. The cigarettes sell for $208 and are already available overseas. They're directed primarily at people trying to quit smoking, deliving the same look and feel but without the health concerns. Although most people take up smoking to look cool, so using this would be counterproductive. I'm not sure daily wedgies is a fair tradeoff for lung cancer.

May 10 2007 Faux Repair Plate

faux-repair-plate.jpg

This porcelain plate has a gold crack designed right into it, recreating the look of a repaired plate. It's designed in the Japanese tradition of drawing attention to a flaw in the glaze by filling it with gold. Although for $550 you'd think the crack was filled with plutonium. Or cash.

May 10 2007 Family Guy vs Street Fighter

I can't believe somebody actually took the time to make this. Although they animated Peter Griffin well enough to make a Family Guy fighting game seem like it might actually work. You can skip to the end after the first fight and feel confident that you didn't miss anything important. Unless you consider repetitive animation and sound effects important. In which case, yeah, maybe watch the whole thing.

May 10 2007 Largest pearl in the world for auction

arco-pearl.jpg

This is the Arco Valley Pearl. It's a 575-carat pearl that's 3.1 inches long and 800 years old. It's going up for auction at Abu Dhabi's Emirates Palace and on the Internet where it's estimated to get $8 million. It's pretty nice I guess, but it looks super deformed. I thought pearls were supposed to be round. You give this thing to your girlfriend and she's going to throw it back in your face and start crying because you didn't love her enough to buy her a normal looking pearl.

May 10 2007 Smoking fingers

I can't think of a single reason why you'd want to make your fingers look like they're smoking, but here's how to do it anyway.

May 9 2007 Apartment with half a car

apartment-half-car-01.jpg

I don't know the story behind this, but it looks so neat I think I'll try it with my Ferrari. Sure, that means I'll have to cut my Ferrari in half and glue it to the wall of my apartment, but you say that like it's a bad thing.

The rest of the images after the jump, and thanks to the intoxicatingly good looking Joe for the pictures.

May 9 2007 Zippered Wine Glasses

zipper-wine-glass.jpg

For $99.99 you can get a set of four of these zippered wine glass which features a hand-painted zipper up the side and an actual zipper-pull attached midway. And if this isn't the coolest wine glass you've ever seen, you're a damn liar. Unless you're talking about that wine glass I made out of braided unicorn hair. Yeah, I guess that one was pretty spectacular.

May 9 2007 The killer tortoise

This is video of a tortoise defending its territory against invading cats. Didn't you know? After sharks, tortoises are nature's number one killing machine.

May 8 2007 Blowing up 1 million tons of iron ore

Looks like we've got a competitor for Greatest Explosion Ever. I'm still placing it behind this one though, since there's no fire or shock wave. Or gigantic boner in my pants.

May 8 2007 Titanic lamp sinks into your table

titanic-lamp.jpg

titanic-lamp-2.jpg

Similar to the sinking LED clock, the Titanic lamp is designed to look like it's sinking into whatever surface you place it on. Sort of like my home. Only that wasn't a design choice, I just happen to live on a lake.

May 8 2007 Tornado video shot form 50 yards

TornadoVideos.net storm chasers Reed Timmer and Joel Taylor shot this INSANE video of a violent tornado from within 50 yards!!! We had to back up at the last second, and my cell phone fell out on the road and was taken away by the tornado!!

If they really wanted to impress me they would've climbed out of their car and got some footage from inside the tornado. I guess they just weren't man enough.

May 7 2007 EnergyPod makes napping futuristic

energy-pod.jpg

energy-pod-2.jpg

If you don't mind looking like a total idiot at work, the EnergyPod is a great little place to do your napping. There's a visor to keep out external sound and keep in internal ones, such as snoring or loud screaming or whatever other sounds you might make in your sleep. There's also an built-in sound system which plays music loaded on an internal memory card. It costs about $8,000, so you'll have to decide for yourself just how important having a chair shaped like a spaceship is to you. Personally, I'm okay napping on the floor. Or on the subway. Or on the floor of the subway. It's all good, baby.
